Spine.

Steel, thread, latex and ink, 240 x 150 x 15 cm (2021)

This sculpture is a study in duality, existing as two distinct yet interconnected entities—left and right. The only tether between them is a series of rubberized threads, knotted onto the hooks. In this seemingly simple arrangement, a complex structure unfolds of repetition, imperfection, and connection.
As the title suggests, the sculpture draws inspiration from the intricacies of human anatomy. Just as our bodies are composed of myriad parts, intricately linked by sinew and bone, so too does this artwork explore the concept of interconnectedness. Each thread serves as a metaphorical ligament, binding the disparate elements together in a delicate balance of tension and release. The irregularities in the knots, the slight asymmetry between left and right—these nuances speak to the inherent humanity of the work, reminding us that perfection lies not in uniformity.
